I have posted this in my journal and in the Guiding Eyes For The Blind community on LJ, so sorry if you're reading this more than once. I just really wanted to share... It usually takes two years at Guiding Eyes to be able to apply for full ownership of your guide dog and I finally got the papers in the mail yesterday. I am a March 2007 graduate of GEB and I now have full ownership of my black Labrador named Able. He's always ready to work, likes to play, and mostly everyone who has met Able loves him. I am so thankful and happy to have such an awesome dog and to have attended such a great guide dog school. We are a great team, we have had good times and worked through the problems we've had, and I know Able will be here with me as long as he can.
That's really awesome! Whitney and I are working on becoming a better team. I've only had her for a month, but I can already tell that we've definitely begun the bonding process. I'm glad I chose the school I did. We had a good class with good instructors and everything went so well. Good luck with your dog and congratulations on recieving ownership. I know you're excited.
Thanks, and good luck with your dog too. *Smile. Message me some time, I love talking about guide dogs.
Hey Bella. That's awesome! I'm so happy for you. Wish we had it here.
Thanks, wish you had what there?
Able, that is such a cute name! Congratulations to you all!
Thanks! *Smiles.
I like talking about my dog too. By the way, she got sick, and I had to take her to the vet and get medicine. She kept having very messy pooping accidents. Nasty, but it's getting better!
I wish we could own our guides. We do, but technically it's still The south-african guide dog assosiation's dog
Oh I see. Some schools in the US are like that too.
